ME with Applied Data Science

The objective of this program is to provide engineers in the industry with technical skills as well as business, management, and teamwork expertise. The inclusion of our data science curriculum introduces an additional set of in-demand skills, equipping students with the ability to approach challenges in increasingly vital contexts.

In the Master of Engineering with Applied Data Science program, we utilize curriculum from our Master of Engineering program—in which we target engineers currently employed in industry—and augment it with a powerful, graduate-level applied data science curriculum.

A unique program for working professionals

The Master of Engineering with Applied Data Science program differs from a traditional Master of Engineering degree by combining core courses that focus on the engineering-business environment with technical elective courses that concentrate on contemporary industrial practice rather than research.

The Applied Data Science courses focus on data science and its associated statistical and machine learning and artificial intelligence approaches that are transforming research, science and society—transformations that can be seen in the beginning of the fourth industrial revolution, commonly referred to as Industry 4.0.

Stand out in the field
In the Master of Engineering with Applied Data Science program, we prepare students to enhance their roles as corporate leaders. We do this by providing an environment in which practicing engineering professionals can address the increasingly wide range of technical, managerial, financial and interpersonal skills demanded by an ever-expanding and diverse global industry base in which data science plays an increasingly prominent role.

A comprehensive curriculum
This degree program is composed of online classes—including core courses on how engineering is practiced in contemporary industry—and technical electives that provide depth in a chosen specialty area. All core courses are provided in an exclusively online format.

In total, this program requires 30 credit hours of coursework that include 18 credit hours of online core courses and 12 credit hours of data science courses which can be completed online or in person. It is possible to complete this degree program within a two-year (six-semester), part-time program of study, but most students choose to complete the program over a seven- to nine-semester period.
